ABOUT
With over 25 years of experience, Rafael Mandujano—better known as RAM—has mastered the art of bringing stories to life through bold and immersive production design. From major feature films to high-profile television series and commercials, his visionary approach has shaped striking visual narratives. His recent work includes A Million Miles Away, The Mosquito Coast (Seasons 1 & 2), and the highly anticipated Man on Fire.
RAM’s journey in the art department began as a graphic designer, but his passion for storytelling led him to explore every facet of the craft—working as a set designer, illustrator, assistant art director, and supervising art director. These experiences refined his meticulous eye, deepened his visual storytelling, and shaped the distinctive style that defines his work today—captivating, richly textured, and rooted in authenticity.
His talent and dedication have earned him industry recognition, including a nomination for the Art Directors Guild Award for Excellence in Production Design in 2007 for the film Babel, an honor he shares with Brigitte Broch, Claudia Vázquez, Bernardo Trujillo, and Ryo Sugimoto. He also won in 2009 the Ariel Award for Best Art Direction for Arráncame la Vida, alongside Salvador Parra, Luisa Guala, and Miguel Jiménez.
Renowned for tackling large-scale productions and ambitious set builds, RAM thrives on turning the impossible into reality. Leading teams and orchestrating intricate constructions have become his specialty. As he always says, "NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE."
